Jay Early

Jay "Coach" Early is a CompTIA certified instructor for Nature Coast Technical High School. He was named Teacher of the Year in 2019 for his school and selected 2020 Teacher of the Year by the Hernando County School District. The IT program features four years with the opportunity to earn (Florida Cape List) Industry Certifications during each year. First year students study Digital Information Technology (D.I.T.) and have the opportunity to sit for the CIW Internet Business Associate certification. Second year students study for the CompTIA IT Fundamentals and A+ certifications. Juniors learn networking and have the chance to sit for the CIW NTA and CompTIA Network+ certifications. The program culminates with seniors and the ability to sit for the CompTIA Security+ Certification.

Along with the core IT classes and elective for AP Computer Science is available for students to take as well, which offers (3) college credits pending sufficient AP scoring at the end of the year,

In all, the courses allow for a total of 21 college credits through certification and AP testing. (A+ = 6 credits, Net+ = 6 credits, Sec+ = 6 credits, and AP Comp Sci = 3 credits) *College credits are subject to acceptance by each University, for instance, some AP credits are not accepted by Ivy League schools.
